Our Contribution to the Protection of Endangered Species

Young Ashy-faced Barn Owl at Weltvogelpark Walsrode

Being one of the most important institutions when it comes to the protection of endangered bird species, Weltvogelpark Walsrode enjoys its international reputation. In cooperation with other national and international Zoological Gardens, we are constantly working on protecting rare and endangered species worldwide. Already many times Weltvogelpark reached its goal to breed endangered bird species for the first time in a captive environment and therefore contributed to its survival in its natural habitat. Projects in the wild have repeatedly led to the regeneration of populations that had been reduced to only a few individuals of a specific bird species in their native country.

Every day we receive news of dramatic reductions of natural landscapes and the threat to Biodiversity. Any effort to protect endangered animals is important and very necessary.
